Travelling Blues

Travelling is something that's there in everyone's bucket list. My uncle once asked me about what I ought to do in my life.  I proudly blabbered about travelling the world. After undergrad, will work for a year or two and then save up the money and travel around the world. There was a proper justification for that being "We are born in this world once and if we are not able to see the world, what is the whole point". It was a non-realistic dream of a young girl who didn't know anything about travelling and saving up.There is more to travelling than just the sights of landmarks. The beauty of travelling lies in the experience that you gain when you travel, you don't have to see the whole world nor visit some faraway places to get the pleasure of travelling. It is more about exploring yourself.

Travelling can be experienced in different ways, first and foremost the easiest way to travel. Having done this sort of travelling more than once and not being a big fan of it    - travelling through tour packages.  It's the sort of travelling where you don't have to worry about anything. Everything including the places to be visited, food, stay everything is sorted out by another person. We are always in our comfort zone, it's like having someone take care of you and your family, you know you are safe - It's a worry-free travel. You can see a lot of places in a short span of time but you don't get to enjoy it.

The best way I would say is to organize your own trip, you might not end up seeing a lot of places but you get to choose how you want to spend your time. There is a lot of work that goes into it like finding a good place to stay, understanding the local transport checking out the places to visit but in the end, it's all worth it.
Wertheim, Germany
My first experience in travelling alone to a different country was in 2017. Got an opportunity to visit Wertheim a small village in Germany for a training. Initially being super excited, but as the days neared it was freaking me out. Not knowing anyone there nor sure if someone was going to pick me up, didn't even know the language, was it safe - all these thoughts kept taunting me. Eventually, I reached Germany, there was someone to pick me up, he dropped me at the hotel which was more or less like a motel, where only one of the personnel could speak English. On the first day, walked around getting familiarized with the surroundings, and then eventually kept exploring. Google maps were the rescuer. It was my first time being all alone on my own. I survived those 5 days in Germany and was so happy to have done it and not backed out because of my fears. For me, those 5 days were not about seeing a lot of places but it was the experience that I had during those days that made an impact.

The same was applicable when coming to Scotland. Even though going abroad to study was always my dream, I had my whole set of fears. Although having realized now that it was all in my head. No-one can make you do anything that you don't want to, where ever in the world. Be cautious when you are in a new place until you get used to the surroundings. But being cautious doesn't stop you from exploring the place. Learn to enjoy your own company. Having read so many posts and articles written about appreciating your own company still it always had me wondering what big difference it would make, it does make a huge difference and it can only be experienced. When you live alone, spend time with yourself that's when you realize the importance of a lot of things in your life. It's not a piece of cake but it will get better over time.
